Your
tiara and bridal jewellery are delicate pieces and with a little TLC
they will provide a lasting and precious memento of your special day
Tarnishing:
Naturally occurring oxidants found in the air and oils in the
skin will tarnish your tiara and jewellery. Silver plated and
sterling silver are more prone than gold. To help prevent this
you can store you jewellery in a sealed plastic bag.
Avoid
direct contact with hairsprays, perfumes, deodorants, detergents
and salt water. Apply perfumes and deodorants before putting on
your jewellery
Remove jewellery before washing dishes or bathing.
Avoid unnecessary stress at the clasps to prevent breakage.
Beaded jewellery may need rethreading after a while as regular
wear may cause the stones to cut through the cable threading
wire.
Remove jewellery before undertaking manual tasks to protect your
pieces from damage
Remove jewellery before bed
Cleaning:
Do not use boiling water or ammonia cleaners. Remove any
dust or grime from your freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals
and pearls simply rub and buff gently with a soft lint free
cloth. Very dirty pearls and crystals can be washed in a mild
soapy solution and then should be dried thoroughly after. A
jeweller's cloth will bring back the shine on any dull tarnished
metal parts.
Take care when cleaning stones with an AB (Aurora Borealis)
finish as the coating can easily scratch
Storing
Lay your necklaces and
bracelets flat in their protective box so they retain their
shape.
Jewellery with freshwater
pearls shouldn't be kept with other pieces of jewellery as the
delicate nacre of the pearls may become scratched and cause
colour change.
It is a good idea to
wrap each individual piece in velvet or silk. Illusion jewellery may become
misshapen if not stored correctly. If this occurs, wear the
jewellery for a short while. The warmth of your body will iron
out any kinks and the design will regain it's shape.
